We fully support the newly formed “Jazz on View Non-Profit Society” and would like to add our voices to the chorus of others expressing the importance of saving Hermann’s Jazz Club for a live music venue in Victoria.
Since Hermann Nieweler’s passing in 2015, Hermann’s Jazz Club has remained open and vital as hosts to so many local and visiting performers. A strong group of people have dedicated their efforts to organizing and scheduling and it seems Hermann’s offers an event almost every night, which we greatly appreciate and hope continues for patrons and performers, of all ages, for generations to come.
Over the years, we have enjoyed some of the most talented musicians of our era in performance in this most unique Club environment and we have seen emerging talents showcase their skills and gain valuable experience in front of a live audience. The Club offers a rare opportunity for both musicians and music lovers to meet in a wonderful atmosphere of community and enthusiasm.
At a time when there are fewer and fewer live music venues, we feel, as so many do, that if Victoria were to lose Hermann’s as a destination location with a worldwide reputation, it would be a sad loss indeed.
Our best wishes for a successful application for funding and ultimately securing the purchase of the View Street building.
Yours sincerely,
